Welcome to the UChicago DMCA Resources site.  As an Online Service Provider, the University may receive DMCA infringement notices from copyright holders (or their agents) if they believe that their rights are being infringed upon by someone controlling a machine on our network. This page provides pointers to information about our process for handling such notices, relevant University policies, and other useful information related to copyright.

What to do if you received a DMCA infringement notice

If you received a DMCA infringement notice for activity on The University of Chicago Network, there are steps that you should immediately take to address the situation.


Legal Download Alternatives

EDUCAUSE is a nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology.  EDUCAUSE maintains a list of legal alternatives for downloading copyrighted material. Some of the sites listed provide material at no charge and some charge a fee.
